This was the second song I ever wrote. Sometimes really cool things are accidentally spawned out of grief and retrospection.

It was right after Kid Rock’s assistant, Michael Racha, was killed in an ATV accident. I had not met him personally, but the entire Kid Rock community spoke of how awesome a guy he was.

It got me thinking about my husband. I hate to think that he might one day get to Heaven before I do; but… what if that’s the case?

What would I want him to say to people we know who are already there?

Tell Bobby he owes me money. This is a nod to Kid Rock. Of course he’s still alive, but not 100% of every song is about real life. 😉

Tell Robin that he’s really funny. Here we leave a nod to the great Robin Williams.

Tell Crystal thank you for Adam. Crystal was a girl that I knew on LiveJournal many years ago. It was through her blog that I learned about Adam Ezra, who has been a great influence on my life. Crystal committed suicide around 2006.

Tell Prince his leaving made me blue. This was just too perfect the way it was; I didn’t have to try to get the word “purple” in there.

Tell Mikey, “Good morning sunshine.” Michael was my brother. He died in a boating accident over 25 years ago.

Tell the other Mikey his home runs were so fine. This nod was for Michael Sacha. He played baseball in college.

Tell Grammy I’ll ask for cookies when my time is through. This was for my Grammy, who passed away just a few years ago. She made the most awesome ginger cookies.

…and tell yourself I love you. That’s to my husband. This song is for him.

I hope you enjoy it… and if it touches you, please feel free to tell me about it in the comments below. I’d love to hear your stories and thoughts.
